Painting Lips Tutorial by DaimyoSensei Painting Lips Tutorial by DaimyoSensei
Blah k, so my first tutorial. It covers how to render/cg lips. If only I took more time actually painting the lips during this tutorial -_-

You don't have to follow this tutorial word for word, or color for color. Experiment using other colors.

I forgot to mention, make a new layer after the colors are blended. That way, you can easily fix the highlights and/or touch-ups.

Sorry if it's confusing.... Note me if you have questions.

If this tutorial helps you in any way, please send me a link of your finished piece or attempt at using this tut. I'd love to see what you guys come up with ^^

Thank for sharing this. I've been struggling with getting lips right and your tutorial cleared up where I was going wrong.

I used PaintTool Sai, but you can apply this to any paint program like Photoshop, Painter, Gimp, etc. Hope that answers your question xD

What did you do with the typography? It's blurry and stretched out of proportion. Anyway, the illustration itself is very well done.

I originally wrote it out, but I didn't think it looked neat enough. The tutorial already was taking too long, so I didn't bother to just save it as a psd file (since it was made in Sai) and add text in Photoshop. So I just copied it from ms word (since that was were I originally "organized" how I was going to explain the steps), and pasted in Sai.

Thank you!! ^^

Did you use screenshots from MS Word? Why not copy/paste the text?

What is Sai? I've never heard of it before. In which regard is it better than Photoshop for illustrations?

Yepp. And b/c I was in a hurry to finish. I spent almost three hours on the tut -_-

Paint Tool Sai. I prefer it for my pieces b/c I think it's easier to use for blending, and it looks much more smooth. Though I sometimes use both Ps and Sai. But everyone has his or her preference.
